Description
This is a 1920-1930s era bronze/brass and steel tank type pressure sprayer for garden use. Heavy brown bronze patina with some blue and green staining. I filled the tank with water and found no leaks. In one picture you can see I polished a small area on the bottom of the tank to determine that metal was a bronze or brass and not steel or aluminum. It's most likely a bronze and has soldered seams.I have not cleaned the patina off the rest of the bronze tank so you can either leave it as is or polish it to your hearts content. Should you desire, you could with some elbow grease make this sprayer glisten.
Hose and strap are probably not original but appear functional and similar to what would have been on original.
As for brands, it appears to match up with the design of E.C. Brown Co. Brass Garden Sprayer of Rochester N.Y., though I cannot find any markings. It may have had a label on the side, but that is long gone. They were big into agricultural stuff from the 1900's onward. I have found photos of their sprayers from 1911 which are very similar, with the major difference being a slightly heavier cast handle. Suspect that by the 20s-30s competition forced some simplification.
Note: pictures were taken just after water testing, so the tank and parts are still wet and may show more shine or brightness that when everything is dry.
Nice solid piece for decoration or....
